Strange times
Hurricane Milton and the aftermath

Hurricane Milton: As if Hurricane Helen wasn’t bad enough for the East Coast, Hurricane Milon seemed to have taken it as a personal challenge and upped the ante.
This marks two hurricanes in the past 13 days to call this situation tragic feels like an extreme understatement. The rainfall leading up to this has been called a 1-in-1,000-year event. On top of that, Milton sparked a tornado outbreak before making landfall on Wednesday as a Category 3 storm.

While the worst of the storm seems to be over, there are over 100,000 residents without power and housing, thousands missing and the death toll is rising. These are dark times for many of our friends on the East Coast.
And while it’s easy to feel hopeless and helpless, there are a lot of ways we can all band together and express our compassion and humanity.
Here are a few ideas to help if you’re curious how you can help:
Open your home to displaced animals or donate
Donate to GofundMe’s Hurricane Relief
Don’t have money to donate? Promote one of the causes that speak to you in your local area.
A lot is going on in the world that can pull us apart but there when our nation faces a lot of pain like this, we can set differences aside and show our strength in our humanity.

More of the strange: The past few weeks have been odd… to say the least. Let’s review, shall we?
🌕 We kicked off the month by going from one moon to two. Yes, we temporarily have 2 moons…
🌪️ Then we’ve had two hurricanes in less than a two-week span that caused everything from flash floods to tornados.
🔥 Wyoming has a raging 76,000+ acre wildfire that is only 16% contained.
☀️ The sun is throwing a bit of a hissy fit and flinging some serious solar flares our way causing aurora sightings as far out as Alabama but straining our power grids at the same time.
🐪 The Sahara Desert experienced extremely rare flooding for the first time in decades.
To be sure, Mother Earth is having a moment 😰
