🌝 Are you ready for the solar eclipse?

See how you can view it

“The moon is a friend for the lonesome to talk to.” ― Carl Sandburg

Solar Eclipse: On April 8, 2024, a historical total solar eclipse will traverse parts of the United States, attracting widespread attention and prompting a surge in travel to areas within the eclipse's path of totality. How much travel?

Michael Zeiler, an expert solar eclipse cartographer likened it to "50 simultaneous Super Bowls across the nation," making it the biggest travel event in 2024.

The path of totality, the path where the total eclipse creates its complete shadow, covers 12 states from Texas to Maine including some small sections of Tennessee and Michigan.

If you want to travel to these states to see it last minute, it’s probably going to be hard to find a place to stay but nothing like a little adventure for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Tech: The solar eclipse isn’t just of interest to the masses. Science is taking an interest too.

During the solar eclipse, NASA plans tolaunch three Black Brant IX sounding rockets during a launch window that opens April 8 at 2:40 p.m.

Why, you may ask? To study how the Earth’s upper atmosphere responds to sunlight being dimmed over part of it.

But they’re not the only agency running tests that day. CERN also plans to turn on the Large Hadron Collider on April 8th as well to “discover subatomic particles that exist inside atoms.

As to why they’ve decided to turn on this machine to simulate the conditions of a moment after the Big Bang on the same day of the solar eclipse, they haven’t explicitly said.

But there’s some definite science behind this date since they only turn on the machine one month out of the year.
