Health: The holiday season is right around the corner. You know what else is upon us? Yup, flu season. 🤧

Like always, this time of year sees an uptick in flu, but it’s not the only bug out there that could have you feeling flu-like symptoms. Colds can come with similar symptoms, but there are some others to keep an eye out for especially if you have children in the house.

RSV, Meningitis, and Mono may not be as common as seasonal colds, but they do happen and go around.

Some of the symptoms of those mirror the flu but each has signs that help single them out that are good to know so you can keep a better eye on things when taking care of yourself or loved ones just in case they start feeling under the weather.

Home: Many homes are starting to use solar panels to help them generate energy, but it’s not the only self-sustaining energy option out there. In fact, soon your home could power itself with concrete.

The brainiacs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have just whipped up a supercapacitor made from a mix of concrete and charcoal!

Yep, you heard it right – we're talking about a material that can play storage superhero for electricity. So, how does it work?

In very simple terms, they essentially mix refined charcoal with cement to create a volumetric wire dance party within the concrete that can store electricity like it's nobody's business.

This essentially turns a chunk of concrete into like battery that can power your home. They’re still working on turning this science into something usable for modern homes, but it’s cool to know there is a new, sustainable way to harness energy.

Education: Imagine waking up to find $50k of student debt has been wiped clean. Sounds too good to be true but it’s what happened for this boomer.

Here's the scoop: George, a seasoned government worker, had been swimming in the student loan repayment game since 1998.

He'd signed up for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program, aiming to bid farewell to his student debt after a decade of dutiful payments. But, alas, paperwork hurdles threw a wrench into the works.

Little did he know that in October, his loan servicer, MOHELA, was about to drop a bombshell:

"Congratulations! The Biden-Harris Administration has forgiven your federal student loan(s) in full."

Turns out, President Biden's Education Department was on a roll, announcing a one-time account adjustment for borrowers who'd clocked the required payments under certain plans but were still waiting for the sweet taste of relief.

This isn’t a common tale just yet, but it’s nice to hear that the student loan debt forgiveness plan is getting a small rollout and helping people get back on their feet.
